On July 10th, we held a meeting with Senator Gustavo Sanhueza to discuss legislative reform topics regarding intellectual property. The director of Innovarte, Luis Villarroel, attended, as well as the economist and director of KEI, James Love.
During the meeting, we emphasized ongoing legislative initiatives that have been stalled, related to access to medicines in Chile, and also to an accelerated industrial property regime for compulsory licenses or government use. We also highlighted the importance of creating incentives for innovators or technology companies to patent their technologies abroad.
It was agreed to continue exploring possibilities to promote innovation in Chile.
