Today, a meeting was held between the Director of Innovarte, Luis Villarroel, and the Chief of Staff of the Undersecretary of Economy and Small Businesses, Francisca Ochoa, in which the work done by Innovarte in the field of innovation and intellectual property was presented. During the meeting, several proposals aimed at strengthening the strategic use of intellectual property at the national level were presented.
The importance of greater linkage between sectoral ministries, such as Health, Agriculture, among others, to contribute to the definition of the national intellectual property policy was highlighted. In this regard, the implementation of effective instruments was advocated, such as the licenses of full right that are already available in the European Union.
A proposal was also made to review patenting rates, seeking to establish differentiations that take into account the applications of research entities, universities and single-person innovators. The need to promote non-exclusive and transparent licensing, which would allow greater accessibility and dissemination of knowledge and technologies, was also highlighted.
Finally, emphasis was placed on strengthening the channels to take advantage of the information available in patent databases, both at regional and community level, so that this information can be a valuable resource for entrepreneurs and innovators in the country.
This meeting represents a significant step towards the creation of a more favorable environment for innovation and technological development in Chile, promoting a more efficient and proactive use of intellectual property.
