The Workshop Licensing in Difficult Times: The Experience of Global Open Licensing Platforms in Healthcare was successfully held on Tuesday, April 30, in the city of Madrid.
This event, which took place within the framework of the Annual International LESI Innovarte Conference, marked a strong presence with the objective of promoting open licensing platforms in healthcare and the opportunities for technology holders.
The benefits and challenges of such platforms were analyzed, with the participation of representatives of research entities such as the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) of Spain and the University of Chile, which have licensed technologies through such platforms.
Presentations were made by Erika Dueñas, Intellectual Property Manager, Division of Access to Medicines and Health Technologies, World Health Organization (WHO); Elena Villanueva, Consultant in Public Policy Medicines Patent Pool; Javier Maira, Head of Commercial Strategy and Internationalization Area, Deputy Vice-Presidency of Knowledge Transfer, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Spain; and Pablo Lobos Ruiz, Senior Innovation Executive – Biomedicine Area, University of Chile; with the moderation of Luis Villarroel, Director of Innovarte ONG.
